So, I know I’ve dropped a review on the “Sure-Grip Stardust Roller Skate Review: Is It Better Than Impala Holographic” this blog post is going to be quite similar and straight to the point. I’ll be concentrating on the key differences and similarities on all sure-grips and impala roller skates.

That being said, the major difference between the sure-grips and the impala roller skates is in the comfort. While the sure-grips are also an incredible pair of roller skates especially for beginners, the impala roller skates still beats them in terms of comfort. In this case, the impala roller skates are unmatched when compared to the sure-grip roller skates.
Now, I’d like to say that this is mainly based on my long term experience with both roller skates and you might have a different opinion about this and that’s totally fine.
Moving forward, the sure-grip and the impala roller skates come close in terms of appearance. The look strangely alike and can sometimes be mistaken for the other if you don’t look closely. Although thereare different types of the sure-grips and the impala roller skates, the sure-grip star dust and the impala holographic look very much alike because they both give a shiny look. The same goes for other types of sure-grips and impalas.

What are sure-grip Roller Skates?
As earlier stated, the sure-grip roller skates are one of the pioneer skates in the history of skating. In other ones, the company has stood the test of time as the migrated from producing skating wheels back in the 30s and began producing roller skates in the year 1945.
If you compare them with other pioneer skates, you’ll see that they come out stronger as other either drop in the quality of their roller skates or just stopped producing after a couple of years. Surprisingly, they are still producing amazing beautiful skates.
I strongly recommend them for beginners out there, not just because they are pocket friendly but also because they make learning roller skating an easy to do. After a friend of mine said they were her best collection, I tried using them to feel what she felt, and I must confess they really are nice skates indeed.
With the soft feel the give on your legs, you’ll be surprised the amount of ankle support they come with. One of the things that amazed me. Now, because they are beginner friendly roller skates, they won’t really go as fast as you might want them to. So if you’re looking to go faster that the wheels they come in can go, you should consider changing the bearings to a faster one.
I wasn’t so crazy about the laces the came with or the lacing system in general, they made me feel some sort of way, but they’re still comfortable though and make a great feature on the sure-grips, however, if you’ll love to go for better waxed skates, you’re free to explore the market and choose what’s best for you.
What are impala roller Skates?
Unlike the sure-grip roller skates, the impala roller skates came out far later after the sure-grip company started producing roller skates. So with that I’ll say they are not considered to be a pioneer skates but still make very great pair of skates especially for beginners
If I was asked to choose between the sure-grips and the impala roller skates, I’m sorry guys, but I’ll always choose my impala skates, regardless of its controversy history. They were my very first owned pair of skates and I made tons of memories with these babies and you can too.
The impala roller skates are produced in both outdoor skates and indoor skates or both. However, I prefer to go for the impala skates that can be used both outdoor and indoor. In terms of speed and acceleration, they are not an ideal pick for fast skater; however, they are relatively faster than the sure-grip roller skates and is also an awesome pick for beginners.
I started my roller skating journey with a pair of impala holographic and they never disappointed me for once. They come with great laces and lacing system, not as wacky as the sure-grips though and neither are they as great as inline skates, but they serve its purpose. Which if you asked me if definitely what every skater wants in their pair of roller skates.
Why Should You Buy the sure-grip Roller Skates or impala roller Skates?
Again, the reason why you buy any of these roller skates should be based on what you’re looking to gain as a skater and how much of a skater you are.
If you are an expert skater, cross trainer, speed skater, or intense skater, they are definitely not an ideal pick for you as neither of them is built to go through such harsh experience.
Buttttt, they will make a great pick for you if you’re just starting roller skating or anything skating for the first time. I say this because of how affordable they are. You could literally see impalas and sure-grip roller skates going for as low as $99. I mean who wouldn’t jump on that offer laid on a platter of Gold. I know I will for sure.
So, if you’re an amateur skater, I recommend you buy any of them for a wonderful beginners experience in skating.
Sure-grip Roller vs Impala Skates Differences
There aren’t much differences between the both, it was kind of hard to even see a difference, but here are a few I noticed while skating with them on different days.
When it comes to comfort, the impala roller skates provide more comfort to the skater than the sure-grips. This is one of the reasons why I would always pick the impala roller skates over the sure-grips. I also prefer to make use of the impala skates when I don’t really feel like skating but I want something that feels as comfortable as possible.
The both come in outdoor wheels however, the impalas go faster that the sure-grip roller skates. But I’ll also like to mention that neither of these skates are meant for speed skating and it may be difficult skating with ABEC-9 bearing on these gummy wheels.
When it comes to looks and appearance, although, they do look alike, there will always be something to give them off.
Sure-grip Roller skates vs impala roller Skates Pros
I won’t lie guys there are a ton of advantages that comes with roller skating with either of these roller skates and I thought I should fill you guys in on everything you stand to enjoy.
Sure-grip roller skate pros
- Adjustable toe-stops which is super great and works as a braking system for you while skating. You’re also free to remove them if you don’t like skating with toes-stops
- Nice laces but I wouldn’t say they’re the best out there.
- Very affordable pair of roller skates
- Great for indoor skating and outdoor skating
- An ideal pick for beginners and amateurs
Impala roller skate pros
- Very affordable
- Suitable and highly recommended for beginners
- Can be used for both outdoor and indoor skating
- Fairly good laces
- Comes with toe-stops except they’re not adjustable.
Sure-grip Roller skate vs impala roller Skates Cons
Although I love skating with the sure-grip roller skates and the impala roller skates, there are a few things I didn’t like while using them
Sure-grip roller skate cons
- Not an ideal pick for seed skaters
- Not suitable for cross trainers
- I wouldn’t recommend them for expert roller skaters
- Horrible laces and lacing system
Impala roller skate cons
Pretty much the same as that of the sure-grip roller skates.
Apart from all that has been listed above I enjoyed using the sure-grip roller skates and the impala roller skates and I’m sure as an amateur skater you will too.
How to Make Your Decision?
I believe we’ve gone through this over and over again, but for the sake of clarity, I’ll say it again.
- Buy the correct size of skates
- Ensure that you break in your skates early enough to avoid getting blister
- Ask if they are baking friendly
- Buy based on the budget you have.
