Power slide vs Rollerblade [Key Similarities & Differences]

Hi guys, I guess you’re wondering why I have “power slide vs rollerblade” as the topic on this blog post. After I dropped a comparison review on rollerblade twister vs power slide imperial, I got a lot of requests to drop a general comparison on the powerslide vs rollerblade.

Of course, my only purpose on this blog is to address everything skating and I thought why not!

This review won’t be very different from the last one I did, you might notice a few similarities but there will definitely be a key difference.

So, as you know, the powerslide and rollerblade are both inline skates with a strong build. And regardless of the fact that they both have a strong build, they are still surprisingly lightweight. The first time I saw these skates, I thought they’d be very heavy and I was skeptical about trying them on.

But, it gave me a shocker that the powerslide and rollerblade are as light as my roller skates. It’s almost difficult to tell the difference between the powerslide and the roller blade because they have so many similarities and looks almost the same.

However, in my case, I do not judge my skates by their looks alone but by how they feel on my feet. With the singular act of skating for a few hours with the powerslide and the rollerblade, I could tell the difference.

The major difference between the powerslide and the rollerblade is the speed. It’s almost impossible to not notice how fast the powerslide run. If you were not very skilled with speed skating, you may run into something.  So if you’re fast skaters, you should consider buying your inline skates from the powerslide company.

I also noticed that the powerslide skates have a lighter feel on the leg than the rollerblade. Although they’re both lightweight.

Anyways, I enjoyed using both skates; they made my learning experience blissful. While I won’t really recommend them for beginners because of how expensive they are, if you have enough cash to invest in really good skates, you’ll fall in love with them.  Also I won’t recommend them to beginners starting skating for the first time in general. I think it would be a better idea to learn roller skating first before transitioning into inline skating.

What are rollerblades?

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, rollerblades are inline skates. Let’s not get confused because it has “roller” in its name. unlike quad skates which have two wheels at the front and two wheels at the back, making it four, the rollerblades have their wheel on a straight line centered in the middle of the boots. They come with 2 to 5 soft wheels and can be changed if you want.

The rollerblades are very suitable for outdoor and indoor skating (especially outdoor). Bear in mind that the rollerblades do not come with toe stops, but you can have a braking system attached to them for better control of your skating.

The rollerblade company began producing inline skates back in the early 80s and has since then been a massive success and great pick for inline skaters.

Although I’ll pick the powerslide I was really on the lookout for very lightweight inline skates, the rollerblades are still on my top list of inline skates and I’m sure you’d feel the same way too.

Depending on the type of rollerblades you decide to go for, the usually come in an ILQ Z bearings. If you’re not a fan of these bearings you can also have them changed for you to better ones. Also, the speed is okay, but if you’re a fast skater, you should consider picking a pair of power slides instead. I liked them because they gave me the entire stance I needed as a versatile skater. So you might want to keep an eye out for these skates if you’re like me.

The laces are horrible; I don’t like them at all. It’s pretty hard t find skates with good laces these days why? But anyways I bought a new pair of laces for my rollerblades and it complemented the whole frame of the skates. The lacing system isn’t that incredible but they’re still not bad too.

All liners in the rollerblades are incredible and have a great feel at the base of your foot. I grew a liking for the rollerblade twister mainly because its liners came with air vents on them. Such a sweet feature if you asked me.

What are Powerslide?

Based on personal experience, they are by far my best inline skates. I’m sure I’ve said this before. But I mean it 100% when I say they are really incredible inline skates. I really can’t express the love I have for the powerslide skates but I’ll try to.

I have no idea how the company produces their liners, but it is awesome how they grow with your feet. When you get them newly, it does require a breaking in period of about 2 weeks (this is how long it took me to break them in) as far as you’re following the procedures we mentioned in one of our breaking in blogs. They are baking friendly which make them even easier to break in. Just ensure that you’re taking them for a run, long enough.

They grip like a glove on your fit and the come with a hard shell and really nice liners which I don’t think I have seen in any other inline skates in checked out. You can tell by the way it grips your fit and the way it fit that they are built for fast and intense skating. Cross trainers will definitely love this one. Please keep this in mind; the powerslide go all the way out in its speed, so if you’re not very sure of your control just yet, kindly get good braking system for your powerslide.

Almost all powerslides come with a 45 degree buckle strap which will give you a nice ankle support and everything in between. The wheels are also a great feature in the powerslides.

Why Should You Buy Rollerblades or Powerslide?

Many of you are open minded and willing to try out new things, while possibly a hand full of you are not. For me, the only way to know something is to experience it. So if you’re still skeptical about buying the rollerblades of the powerslide skates, I’ll run you through why you should go ahead and buy the rollerblades and the poweslide.

You should consider buying the powerslide inline skates, if you are looking for a fast skates. In other words if you are a fast skater, they would be an ideal pick for you. You would also enjoy using them if you carry out intense and dangerous techniques. Please do this at your own risk.

I won’t recommend either of the skates for beginners because they are both on the high side, but they would really make a good skate investment.

If you enjoy versatile skating, you should consider going for the rollerblades. I strongly recommend them based on personal experience.

Rollerblades vs Powerslide Differences

Like I said before, the rollerblades and powerslide have a lot in common. To the extent that, the both look the same. But regardless of that, they still have a fair share of differences.

The very first difference you will notice from skating with the two is the speed. The powerslides are faster in speed than the roller blades. Being one of the reasons why many fast skaters recommend using the powerslides for greater speed.

Rollerblades will be an ideal pick if you’re a versatile skater.

The liners do not feel the same, especially when we compare with the roller blade twister that comes with air vents. However, I did enjoy using the both liners because of the firm grip it gave on my feet.

The bearings on the rollerblades and powerslide are different. The rollerblades come with an ILQ Z bearings while on the other hand; the powerslide comes with ABEC-9 wicked bearings. They are responsible for how fast these inline skates run while using them.

These are the only differences I could make out from using the rollerblades and the powerslide, but they definitely feel different when using them regardless of the fact that they look alike.

Rollerblades vs Powerslide Pros

Honestly, I don’t think I’ll be going for another company’s inline skates except I receive tons of requests to have them reviewed. I really enjoyed using the rollerblades and the powerslides, so here are some of the Pros to break down the advantages for you.

Rollerblades vs Powerslide Cons

I still felt a few drawbacks to using the rollerblades and the powerslide and I felt I should let you guys know.

  • Top buckles are plastic
  • Crappy laces (didn’t really like the ones that came with it)
  • It is on the expensive side
